HP plays the songs of Infinite Spark and other people. Friday 10th March @ Nectar on the Cowgate. I'm on first (some time between 9 and 10) followed by William Douglas and the mighty Alfonzo (more bands TBA). Entry is FREE hope to see you there! HP xo
So last night I played on my own at Henrys. Well not on my own totally, there was other folk in the room (thank fuck). Mind you the stage is a lonely place with out Jim and Graham to back me up but I survived. My set went well, nae big fuck ups. Crowd clapped in all the right places and a couple of people got up and danced to my cover of Elliott Smiths "Waltz #2 (xo)", which was nice if a little strange for an acoustic set! Callel were on after me, they did nice tunes with harmony's. Some tracks sounded a bit like the Durutti Column (always a good thing). Callel are now one of our many (64 and counting) friends on myspace now, go check em out. www.myspace.com/infinitesparkmusic Then Action Group took to the stage, they were great. Loads of energy and angular guitar work in a Pavement/Sonic Youth kinda way. But they didnt play for long enough, I wanted more! Think I mite go to I fly Spitfires on Sunday night, want more gig action! xo
Time to blow my own trumpet...
I'm playing a solo acoustic set at Henry's Cellar Bar on Wed 15th Feb. Doors are open at 9pm. Entry is £3 if you're a scruffy student or £4 if you're an honest tax payer like what I is. I'll be playing stripped down versions from the Infinite Spark play list along with a few covers and I'll try not to tell any bad jokes. Also on the bill for your entertainment will be Callel and Jack Elwoods.
Hope you can make it along HP xo
Sun, Jan. 22nd, 2006, 01:34 pm crazy night
We had a great gig last night, almost the entire staff of the Elephant House turned up to see us and loved us! They are fantastic. So much for all the people who I emailed and texted over the last two weeks, not one showed up. Whats worse is that none of them replied to my message to say they couldnt make it, so thats quite a few birthdays I'll be shanning this year. However, they can redeem them self's on the 1st of Feb at the Citrus club. The bar last night had been double booked, so as well as ourselves, Alfonzo and William Douglas there were three other bands who turned up expecting to play. The sound man Scott did a barry job making sure every one got their time on the stage, even the final band of the night who turned up late and brought a gang of uncouth teenagers. They spent the whole night acting like cocks at a school disco and trying to scam fags off us older kids. I hope I was never that obnoxious when i was 17! This high school band (who's name escapes me) were actually ok in a Kyuss stoner rock kinda-way. Shame they and their mates were a bunch of wee fannys. Our set was chaotic but fun, we were against the clock and my amp was too quiet for the first two songs. But everyone cheered at the right bits and our new cover of Camper Van Beethoven's "Take the Skinheads Bowling" went down a treat. Bring on the Citrus Club!
